I run a number of workshops and courses based on the benefits of mindfulness and meditation.

My meditation and mindfulness courses focus on building clients emotional resilience, giving them the tools and knowledge to reduce the negative effects of stress and anxiety on their lives.

 

Many benefits of developing a regular practice includes the following:- Emotional resilience, Better quality of sleep, Heightened creativity, Improved health and wellbeing, Less stressful reactions to everyday experiences, Heightened appreciation of the senses.

About me and Mindfulness

 

I began meditating twenty years ago, shortly after a series of stressful events and losses.  I had become ill, I had hit a low point in my life and this took its toll on my health and wellbeing.  I had been given a relaxation medication tape by a friend, lasting around 25 minutes, and I started with this.  I used to get up at 5.30-6.00am and meditate in a chair with a lit candle.  I immediately found that it gave me clarity of thought.  I was able to make sense of events and situations which previously seemed chaotic.  Following this, I began to attend retreat weekends twice yearly where my meditation experience expanded.  Five years after this, I moved to Dubai where I continued to practice meditation at home and by the sea.  I also joined a group called 'The Art of Living' where I practiced breathing techniques  for 20 minutes, followed by a 30 minute meditation.  I am not able to practice mindfulness and meditation almost anywhere, dropping in to a relaxed state within minutes.  I have meditated in the countryside, by the sea, on a plane and on trains.  I also meditate for a few minutes in my work as a therapist before I see each client.

 

Mindfulness has made a great difference to my life, particularly in difficult times.  It has allowed me to sit with the pain of loss, and other emotional events.  It has made me aware of my thoughts, feelings and understanding of events, allowing me to sit and reflect with what comes up.  this in turn has helped bring clarity and creativity to choices in my life.  Mindfulness has made a difference in so many other ways to my life.  It has helped me to live more in the moment, to appreciate awe in people, music and scenery.

 

Mindfulness has also heightened my intuition in situations and with people.  I am more aware of my surroundings.  Mindfulness and meditation also heightens my creativity.  This creativity extends into the work that I bring in to my therapy sessions.  I am able to think out of the box with the direction of my clients' progress, often using mind maps, drawing and coming up with interesting homework ideas.

 

There is no doubt that mindfulness and meditation has made a vast impact on my life, and in the work that I practice with clients through Counselling and Reiki healing.

 

My Credentials

 

I have been meditating for over 20 years.  My qualifications and years of experience as a teacher, trainer, therapist enables me to teach groups and individuals, along with training in the workplace.  I am experienced in teaching, training and presenting to students in schools and businesses.  I am an ex-teacher, and I am qualified to teach meditation and mindfulness to groups and individuals.  I am a member of The British School of Meditation, and I have trained with Mary Neilson who works as a trainer and consultant in schools.

Students learn a number of techniques for mindfulness and meditation, how to develop a regular practice, how to navigate emotions that arise during meditation, and how to deal with thoughts and distractions when they arise during their practice.

This class will run for 90 minutes and is available to all students who have attended the beginners course, and all students who are already experienced meditators.
